A New Memory Wall Quilt
It's finally finished! My latest Memory Wall quilt top is pieced and I am completely in love with it! Apparently so is my sister, Meg as she has laid claim to this one! I may have used fabrics from her stash, so I guess I owe her.š
If you are unfamiliar with Memory Wall, it's a super easy, and beginner-friendly quilt pattern. The blocks are large so it's perfect for large-scale prints. There are no complicated piecing techniques. Once you've mastered precision cutting and Ā¼" seams, this pattern will not be a problem for you!
October Rose Fabric Pull
My goal with this quilt was to only use fabrics from mine or my sister's stash for the squares. I did get yardage for the background and frames as I just didn't have anything big enough. It's not a huge deal, I mostly wanted to demonstrate how versatile this quilt pattern is. You can use directional prints with no problem, it works great for large-scale prints, but it can also work for smaller-scale prints! Just look at all the different prints in this assortment.
I'm calling this one October Rose because the colours look so autumny but most of the prints are florals. Do roses usually bloom into October? I don't know if they do, especially here in Ontario. But it's a cool name and it really suits the selection of fabrics, in my humble opinion.
Now, for the exact fabrics I used. From left to right, the fabrics are:
- Her and History Marrells Secret Garden
- Wild Forgotten Fern & Fungus Almond
- Wild Forgotten Vine Sterling
- Duval Diamond Stripe Spiced
- Oasis Egrets Peach and Oasis Kaleidoscope Peach - I didn't have a big enough scrap of either so I just counted them both as one print
- Little House on the Prairie - I'mĀ unsure of the exact print
- Her and History Idas Pressed Flowers
- Wild Cottage
- Peppered Cotton - I'm not sure of the exact colour of this one.
- Oasis Floral Peach - This one is my binding fabric
Her and History, Wild Forgotten, and Duval are all by Art Gallery Fabrics. Oasis is by Figo Fabrics, Peppered Cottons is by Studio E, and Little House on The Prairie is by Andover.
The background fabric is Ethereal Pink from Art Gallery Fabric's Pure Solids line. It's such a delightfully soft pale pink. The frames are Duval Tiny Moon Truffle.
I'll get this Memory Wall quilt quilted up in the new year. At that point, I'll update this post with new images of the quilted quilt. Until then, hopefully, this will get your creative juices flowing!
